Blank Slate Highlighted in U.S. Senate Testimony on Aviation Safety
July 28, 2026
AAAE President and CEO Todd Hauptli points to Blank Slate’s AI-powered training technology as an opportunity to improve training results.
June 23, 2026 — Blank Slate was recognized in testimony before the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation for its work bringing adaptive, artificial intelligence-based training to the aviation industry.
During a hearing titled “Close Calls: Improving Safety Across the National Airspace System,” American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) President and CEO Todd Hauptli highlighted AAAE’s partnership with Blank Slate:
“Notably, AAAE has partnered with Blank Slate—a leading provider of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based training to the U.S. military and other prominent institutions—to deploy enhanced recurrent training that recognizes individual learning habits and adjusts accordingly to promote improved learning retention and training results.”
The reference appeared in Hauptli’s discussion of the essential role that effective initial and recurrent training plays in airport safety. His testimony described how AAAE provides customized computer-based training to airports through its Interactive Employee Training platform and how the organization is expanding those capabilities through AI.
Blank Slate identifies individual and team-wide knowledge gaps, reinforces high-risk or easily forgotten information, and measures operational knowledge retention over time. This gives aviation leaders a clearer view of workforce readiness while helping pilots, technicians, ground crews, and other operational teams maintain the knowledge required to perform safely and consistently. In an industry where human error can have serious consequences, Blank Slate creates a closed loop between training, retention, and real-world performance.
Being highlighted in testimony before the Senate Aviation, Space, and Innovation Subcommittee represents meaningful recognition of Blank Slate’s work and the growing role of adaptive learning in safety-critical environments.
“We’re proud to work alongside AAAE to advance a more adaptive approach to aviation training,” said Matt Trevithick, Blank Slate's CEO. “This recognition reinforces our belief that training should respond to how each person learns - particularly in environments where knowledge retention and readiness matter most.”
Blank Slate looks forward to continuing its work with AAAE and other leading institutions to advance workforce capability, readiness, and performance.
